Pastor's Newsletter

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Ostrander and New Dover,
It is hard to believe that two months have already passed since I began serving as pastor of Ostrander and New Dover United Methodist Churches. In these first weeks, I have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people, hearing stories, sharing meals, worshiping together, and beginning to learn what makes these communities so special.
But I also want to say something to those I have not yet had the opportunity to meet:
You are welcome here.
Our churches are not places where you have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. You don't have to know all the right words, have a perfect understanding of the Bible, or have years of experience following Jesus.
The truth is, we are all still seeking Jesus.
Some of us have been following Him for many years. Others are just beginning to wonder who He is and what it might mean to follow Him. Some of us have seasons when our faith feels strong, and others have seasons when we have more questions than answers.
Wherever you find yourself, there is room for you here.
Our hope is to be warm, welcoming communities where people can come as they are, build relationships, ask honest questions, worship together, and grow closer to Jesus. We aren't finished products—and we don't expect anyone else to be. We are simply people walking together, seeking to know Christ more deeply and allowing His love to shape the way we live and the way we care for one another.
And we would love for you to be part of that journey.
One of the ways we are opening our doors to the wider community is through our Community Breakfast, held on the second Saturday of every month, at our Ostrander Campus. This is simply an opportunity to gather around a table, share a meal, meet some neighbors, and enjoy good conversation. You don't need to be a member of either church. You don't need to come to worship first. Come hungry, come curious, come with a friend—or simply come as you are.
We believe something important happens when people sit around a table together. We get to know one another. We discover that we have more in common than we realized. And sometimes, in the midst of an ordinary conversation over breakfast, we encounter a little of the grace of God.
So consider this your invitation.
Come have breakfast with us. Come worship with us. Come meet us. Come ask questions. Come simply sit with us for a while.
Whether you have followed Jesus your entire life or you're still trying to figure out what you believe, you have a place at the table.
My prayer for Ostrander and New Dover United Methodist Churches is that we would continue becoming communities where people encounter the love of Jesus, find genuine friendship, and discover that they don't have to walk the journey of faith alone.
I look forward to meeting you.
Until then, may you know the peace of Christ, the welcome of a community that cares, and the invitation of a God who is always calling us closer.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Max Andrick
